Area:
Barbera is the “number 2” black grape in Piedmont (after Nebbiolo). The Fiulot Barbera is made from vineyards in the Agliano area of Asti where soils are made up of calcareous clay and sand – a soil type that Barbera thrives in.
Producer:
Prunotto has just celebrated its 100th anniversary having been founded in 1922 by Alfredo Prunotto. He retired in 1956 and the business passed to his friend Beppe Colla – one of the great winemaking figures in the modern history of Piedmont.
Vintage:
A classically style Barbera with bright morello cherry and bold bramble fruit. Medium bodied with lovely, elevated acidity which makes for a refreshing style. Light oak polish gives a nice texture and overall mouthfeel.
Grapes were destemmed and fermented in stainless steel with 20% then being transferred to large oak barrels for 6 months prior to the final blending.
