Area:
Grapes were selected from various sites across the Great Southern. Each variety was picked at different times of ripening and vinified separately at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks with no oak. Grapes were de-stemmed, gently pressed, with minimal use of sulphur. Only the free run juice was used to maximise the purity of fruit flavours and aromatics.
Grape variety:
The Stone’s Throw White Blend is a vibrantly fruity and aromatic mix of 66% Gewurztraminer, 23% Pinot Blanc, and 10% Riesling.
Producer:
Cherubino is a modern-day producer established in 2005 by husband and wife team Larry and Edwina Cherubino – based in Margaret River in Western Australia. They have holdings in Margaret River, Great Southern, and Pemberton, and Larry oversees all the winemaking.
Part of their outward looking thinking and winemaking is to construct dynamic and innovative blends of grape varieties, rather than a solus varietal approach.
Vintage:
The conditions in spring were mild and wet which set the 2022 vintage up perfectly. Late spring and summer conditions were dry and warm into Christmas which meant there was little or no disease pressure in the vineyards with perfect ripe and healthy bunches harvested in March and April. Fruit character was bold from the start and acid levels high – a perfect combination!
Maturity potential:
Enjoy now and over the next 18 months when at its zesty height. Serve chilled.
