Atance is a new venture from Bodegas Mustiguillo with wines made from the Valencia region in southeast Spain. The project is driven by Toni Sarrion the man who led a crusade to save the indigenous black variety Bobal. Toni and Bodegas Mustiguillo have been widely recognised as one of Spain’s finest winemakers and wineries.
The Vino de Pago El Terrerazo lies within the DO Valencia. Both Atance wines are made from vines grown in and around the town of Requena. This area is characterised by higher altitude vineyards - up to 800 metres elevation - on primarily limestone and sandy soils. The climate is Mediterranean with a strong continental influence with high diurnal temperature ranges between day and night.
The Blanco is similarly sourced from dry farmed, organic, old vine parcels at high altitude. Hand harvested, the wine is a blend of 70% Merseguera and 30% Malvasia. Cold fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel, it is then aged on lees for 6 months with no oak prior to bottling.
The Blanco is medium in body with a creamy texture and notes of dried stone fruits and bee’s wax, and a nutty, almond finish. 13.0% abv - serve chilled. Drink now and over the next 18 months
