Area: Grapes are sourced from vineyards in three regions of Hawkes Bay; One in Bay View along with two cooler in-land sights above the Tutaekuri and Ngaruroro Rivers. Each sight bringing it's own characteristics to this wine.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay; fermented in both tank and French oak barriques (48%).
Producer: Esk Valley Estate was established by Englishman Robert Bird in 1933 under the name Glenvale, originally producing fortified wine styles that were popular at the time. The estate was purchased by Villa Maria and renamed ‘Esk Valley’ in 1986 and is now focused on producing modern styles of wine with a hand-crafted and artisanal soul, using many traditional techniques that reflect the estates history.
