Domaine Jaeger-Defaix, Les Cloux, Rully 1er Cru

Located in Mont-Palais, Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy, the south of Côte de Beaune. 

Grape variety:
100% Chardonnay; Wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels for 18 months.

Producer:
Hélène Jaeger-Defaix took over her first vineyard in Rully 1er cru in 2002, previously run by her great-aunt Henriette Niepce. From a great winemaking family, Hélène's great-grandfather, Henri Niepce, was a prominent figure of Rully, helping the area obtain the AOC (appellation d’origine contrôlée) and fame it has today. Her husband, Didier Defaix, is also a winemaker in Chablis. Under Hélène's lead the domain moved to fully organic farming in 2009.  

The Bottle Shops Rating:
A mouth-filling, silky, generous wine. A fine and fruity palate outlined by a structure of mineral notes and a line of intensity which is very attractive. Delicious.
